KidsACT Spring Musical: Seussical!

Students in grades 1-6 will learn stage movement, character development, and strengthen musical skills to present a 30-minute version of the popular musical Suessical. Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and many other favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in this fantastical musical extravaganza! Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton’s challenge is twofold – not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

In the play, Chicken Little, the Three Little Pigs, Humpty Dumpty, the Cat with a fiddle, Little Bo Peep, Little Boy Blue and a host of other nursery rhyme characters are having a Very Bad Day until Mother Goose arrives to show them how to make the best out of life’s ups and downs. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.
